THE WRITE IT DOWN!
COLLECTIVE 

Founded in April of 2020, The Write It Down! Collective is a poetry and spoken-word-based group whose name is an invitation for writing creatives to make their work permanent and tactile by transforming them from thought to written word. Based in Chicago, Write It Down! hosts workshops, open mics, and art-based collaborations that center and amplify the voices and poetic works of Black and Brown writers. Our mission is simple: Give way for the artist to process, feel, respond, and then write.

Their vision is set and focused on shared space for feelings and creation all at once, believing that a culture of empathy and affinity is both necessary and required. We celebrate what happens when space is created for writers and their creative homies to exist in affinity.
